This detailed map of the county of Dorset is divided into hundreds and identifies towns and villages. At top left is an inset map of the county town of Dorchester with its coat of arms. The map is handsomely embellished with three additional cartouches, one of which includes the armorial shields of four important county figures, as well as sea monsters and sailing galleons in the sea. Engraved by Jodocus Hondius. This edition includes the imprint of Bassett and Chiswell, published in 1676.

An old colored example on a sturdy sheet with a few tiny worm holes along the centerfold and minor soiling. There is light toning and a few faint dampstains along the edges of the sheet.
