This superb panoramic view shows London along the Thames River looking towards the north bank and measures nearly 8 feet in length. There is incredible detail of all of the building, parks, and bridges, with dozens of vessels sailing in the river. Composed of two joined sheets with green ribbon edging, rolled onto a wooden dowel with the original publisher's red cloth cover with gilt embossed title affixed to the verso of the beginning of the scroll. The verso of the cloth cover features an advertisement for the Illustrated London News. At the opposite end of the scroll is a separate sheet attached to the dowel that identifies over 200 landmarks within the view. Engraved by Smyth.
