This lovely map is centered approximately on the city of Orleans, extending west to Blois and east to Nemours and Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire. The map shows the Loire River, hundreds of tiny towns, and the Briare Canal, one of the oldest canals in France. Adorned with a decorative title cartouche featuring bunches of grapes. Engraved by J. A nice impression with contemporary outline color and later wash color, on a sheet with a large coat of arms watermark. There is minor soiling and light toning along the edges of the sheet.
