This decorative double-hemisphere map was updated with the new astronomical observations of Chirikof and Delisle. The map features the Sea of the West and a Northwest Passage in North America, and a conjectural shape for Australia incorporates Tasmania and New Guinea into the mainland. The title and dedication cartouches are tucked between the cusps, and the hemispheres are supported on the shoulders of two men. The map is surrounded in a rococo-style border. The map and border were printed from two separate plates. Brion was the former Geographer to the King of France, and Desnos was Geographer to the King of Denmark.
