An attractive pair of maps engraved by John Dower and published by Orr & Company in London. In the Western Hemisphere, the entire Southwest is now California and the new state of Texas is in large its stovepipe configuration, indicating this map was published shortly after the conclusion of the Mexican-American War. To their north, A large Oregon Territory extends to the Rocky Mountains. In the Eastern Hemisphere, Africa and Australia show very little detail in the interiors. Some of the islands around Antarctica are beginning to appear in the form of vague coastlines.
