Very decorative map of Asia including all of Southeast Asia. The map is modeled on contemporary French sources, notably the work of Robert de Vaugondy. The seas are filled with a number of sailing ships, and there is a decorative cartouche surrounded in jungle with an elephant, peacock and monitor lizard. The map is flanked by panels of French text printed from a separate sheet and pasted on. The decorative border features cherubs engaged in the sciences and was printed from separate plate.

A nice impression with full contemporary color on a watermarked sheet with minor soiling, a small hole along the centerfold within the decorative border, and an archivally repaired centerfold separation at bottom. The panels of French text are lightly toned, and there is additional toning along the edges of the sheet. There are small remnants of hinge tape on verso.
