This handsome map of the historic Moravia region of the Czech Republic is based on the map by the Moravian bishop, Johann Amos Comenius. It is finely engraved with mountains, forests, and even the smallest villages, and includes the cities of Olmitz (Olomouc), Iglaw (Jihlava), and Brno. The map is decorated with a title cartouche with cherubs displaying the coat of arms and two other strapwork cartouches for the key and distance scales. French text on verso, published between 1652-58.

A dark impression with full contemporary color on a lightly toned sheet with a 1" crack in the title cartouche caused by oxidation of green pigment that has been closed on verso with archival material.
