Attractive 18th century map of the continent and the East Indies drawn by Matthias Haas. The extent of European knowledge of the region is vividly depicted with good detail throughout reflecting the surveys of the Dutch East India Company. The work of the Jesuit missionaries are reflected in the well documented region of China. The large title cartouche includes an elaborate scene of a king surround by wealth. Incongruently a native American also appears in the scene. Some bleed through of color to verso.
