Sea chart of the coast near Bordeaux, where the Garonne River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The coastline is filled with dunes, a few villages, castles and other buildings. Central on the map is the lighthouse, Cordouan Tower. Rhumb lines fill the map emanating from a fine compass rose. The large map is printed on heavy weight paper and blue-backed for marine use. This chart was made by Gerard Hulst van Keulen, the last in the long line of cartographers from this famous Dutch firm.
