Very attractive 18th century map of the Americas. The British are shown in the control of all the eastern part of North America. "Nelle Albion" is located above California and the fabled River of the West connects through a network of lakes into both Lake Superior and Hudson Bay. Above that is a notation that the location or existence of the "Mer de l'Ouest" is uncertain. The oceans are filled with sixteen sailing ships and the map includes an ornamental title cartouche and is enclosed in a rococo style border.
