Superb woodblock panorama of Heidelberg showing the city with its magnificent cathedrals and hilltop castle. In the foreground flows the Neekar River spanned by a covered bridge. This is a rare early view of the city consisting of two joined sheets. Two coats of arms above the city. Because of its size, it was issued folded into the binding. Most are therefore found severely damaged or missing part of the sheet.

Old, very attractive color. Toned with some stains in margins, one intruding into image at lower right. Small hole just right of center at top, with old paper repair on verso. Still a nice example of this fine view.
