Finely engraved small map of the famed 'Spice Islands' of present-day Indonesia. Covers from eastern Borneo through the western tip of New Guinea with the major island of Celebes, the Moluccae Ins. and Ceram and numerous smaller islands. The title cartouche features a native with trade goods and a large bird. Further decorated with a scale of miles cartouche and a compass rose. Complete with Dutch text pages describing the English voyage of exploration by Henry Middleton in 1604.
