This is an attractive copper engraved map of the southern part of the continent. Detail is mostly confined along the coastlines, but there are some inland features including rivers, lakes, marshes and the locations of missions. The Andes are noted as a vast volcanic cordillera. The map is embellished by a drape-style title cartouche and a legend and publisher's imprint cartouche that is formed like a large chest supporting a globe, compass and armillary sphere. Engraved by Charles Inselin.
