A beautiful engraving filled with religious symbolism. The caption reads: The law was given to Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ, John 1:17. The central female figure, representing the Church, holds a golden cross, the key to heaven and the challis containing wine from the Last Supper. At her feet is the Bible with the words Alpha et Omega and a slain serpent. Behind her a woman reads from the Ten Commandments and is surrounded by icons of the Jewish Temple.
