A very rare vellum leaf from an early Psalter originating in Flanders. A Psalter was a Book of Psalms, to be recited each week, the majority at Matins and Vespers. Later other texts were added and the Psalter became the principal book for private devotion before the emergence of the Book of Hours in the thirteenth century. This leaf is written in a Gothic bookhand in black, the initials are in red and blue and two big initials are done in red, blue, white and gold leaf.
