A beautiful vellum leaf from a French Psalter. Each side is beautifully decorated with a panel of leaves and flowers with bright colors and gold. The initials and line fillers are done in red, blue and gold. A Psalter, or Book of Psalms, included a calendar and other devotional texts used in the Christian liturgy and for private devotions. All one hundred and fifty Psalms were recited each week, the majority at the hours of Matins and Vespers. This text is from the 1st and 2nd Psalms, starting with Psalm 1: 6.
