One of the finest engravings we've seen that celebrates the completion of the Pacific Railroad. The large central image (16" x 7.3") features a huge crowd cheering a flag-bearing locomotive crossing a trestle. The lower panel features symbolic cities, and a lovely vignette of a side-wheeled sailing ship. A very handsome tribute to one of the most important events in U.S. history. Published in the May 29th edition.
