Very early view of the city and bay that is filled with ships bringing men and goods into the newly discovered gold mines. Beautiful steel engraving from this series of American views issued by the renowned German publisher, Hermann J. Meyer. These were issued, first in parts and then in two volumes, edited by Dana, and aimed at the German emigrant population.
