An extremely fine leaf of thin vellum from a rare French Bible. This leaf is larger than most Bible leaves and is written in a regular Gothic hand with nice initials, chapter headings and penwork decorations in red and blue. In the margin of the recto is a small correction enclosed within red and blue lines. Though the Bible was organized into a single volume in the 13th century it was not until the 15th century that it was divided into verses. The text on this leaf is finely written in two columns with headings at the top of the page. The text is from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Corinthians [II], chapters 8 through 11.
