The Jesuit Relations were originally published in France between 1632-73. Between 1896-1901 Reuben Gold Thwaites published an edition in 74 volumes at the publishing house of Burrows Brothers Company in Cleveland. This was a limited edition of 750 sets, of which the volumes here are number 341. Vol. XLVI Lower Canada, Ottawas, Canadian Interior 1659-166, folding map, 304 pp. Vol. XLIX Lower Canada, Iroquois 1663-1665, 278 pp. Vol. L Lower Canada, Iroquois, Ottawas 1664-1667, plan 378 pp. Vol. LI Ottawas Lower Canada, Iroquois 1666-1668, 295 pp. LXXI Lower Canada, Illinois 1759-1791, 404 pp. Illustrated with portraits, views and maps. A fascinating series of firsthand reports providing a rich source of material for studies in history, religion, geography and ethnology. Hardbound in matched cloth bindings. Top edges gilt, other uncut.
