This map was published in November 1763 just following the British acquisition of the territory. The British Parliament passed the Proclamation of 1763 to outlaw settlement west of the Appalachians in an effort to promote settlement in Florida. The proclamation also offered each settler 100 acres. The map locates many settlements, swamps, and rivers. The lower half is bisected by many waterways, giving the appearance that it's made up of numerous small islands. Large inset of the "Plan of the Harbour and Settlement of Pensacola."

Beautiful impression with just a trace of light foxing. Stitching holes along left neatline from binding.
