An absolutely fabulous floor globe with original horizontal ring and fancy tripod stand. The wooden horizon ring is decorated with signs of the Zodiac and the months. Inscription on the horizon ring reads "MANUFACTURED BY GILMAN JOSLIN, CORRECTED TO DATE. Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1852, by Charles Copley in the Clerks office, of the District Court, of the Southern District of New York." The tripod is hand painted and gilt in Victorian style with no rubbing or loss of any kind. Overall height it approximately 42 inches. Manufactured and distributed by the Andrews Manufacturing Company, New York City and Chicago. Please see the related advertising brochure from this company in the next lot. Very rare to fine a globe of this size in such great condition. RESERVE $3,500.

Lovely ivory toning with some fine checking in original varnish. Base is mint and globe is very good with no lifting of gores.
