Attractive map of the continent and the East Indies with the cartography of the larger Sanson map of 1652. Japan is one large island, based on Jesuit sources. There is a huge land mass to the north of Japan which is named here Terre de Iesso, Yezo ou Sesso, a Jesuit name for Hokkaido and an exaggeration of the Dutch discoveries of De Vries. Korea is depicted as an island.

Lovely example with a crisp, dark impression. One very tiny wormhole in upper blank margin.
