Exquisite and scarce large-scale map with eighteen meticulously engraved vignettes of people, animals, plants and scenes surrounding it. The map shows wonderful detail of caravan routes and known topography. The Monts de la Lune, or the Mountains of the Moon are shown. These fabled and mysterious mountains are the Ruwenzori mountain range, whose unusual equatorial snows feed the sources of the Nile. Includes the Canary and Seychelles islands.
