Considered the most "modern" of Ortelius' maps of the Holy Land. A very detailed map with north oriented to the left. The cartography is based on the wall map of Peter Laicksteen after his 1566 visit to the Holy Land. Two elaborate cartouches: one with three Biblical scenes in small medallions. Plus a dramatic vignette of depicting Jonah falling from a ship into the mouth of the whale. From the 1588 Spanish edition.

Beautiful impression and fine coloring. Old paper repairs to margins to replace missing corners, map very good.
