Two maps that provide a great view of the rapid advance of knowledge in the region during the nineteenth century. New Holland And New Zealand by Jeremiah Greenleaf, circa 1842 (13 x 10.7") shows the interior of Australia nearly completely blank with detail confined to the coastlines and New South Wales. A dotted line splits the country down the middle. Johnson's Australia published by Johnson and Ward, circa 1863 (15.5 x 12.5"). It provides considerably more topographical information with political division into seven counties.

First with some toning and spots. Second with short tears in blank margins, closed with archival tape. Couple of tiny spots, still very good.
