Attractive copper engraved map of the colonies of France and Britain just prior to the French and Indian War. The British colonies are confined east of the Appalachian mountains and include Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Louisiana and Florida are shown to be the possessions of France, while the region between the Mississippi River and the Appalachians is shown to be disputed between the two European powers. Filled with Indian place names and early settlements. Nice strapwork title cartouche.
