A scarce Austrian map of the Western Hemisphere based on D'Anville and the surveys of Gov. Pownall. The attractive composition is well balanced with insets in three corners and a decorative (uncolored) title cartouche. Insets include: a map depicting Cook's discoveries in Alaska, Hudson Bay and Baffin Bay, and a very large map of the United States. The U.S. map depicts the original 13 states with four unnamed western territories, and the western boundary on the Mississippi. Von Reilly was a Viennese art dealer and map publisher who assembled three atlases between 1789-99.
