A wonderfully graphic map depicting the conflict between the Dutch and the Portuguese in the vicinity of Pernambuco. At bottom is a plan-view showing the fleet of the Dutch West India Company breaking though the Portuguese fortification, while the Portuguese set fire to the sugar warehouses. In a large inset (engraved onto a scroll device) is a map of the coast of Brazil from Parayba to the Baya de Todos os Santos.
