Extremely rare map of the region including the Paraguay River basin and the Peru-Chilean coast with Lake Titicaca. The Rio de la Plata is boldly shown with many large islands in the broad river. This map is from a revised copper plate originally published in the 1628 edition of the Mercator Atlas Minor by Jansson. For the Atlas Soulage the titles and scale were translated into French and the cartouche revised. The atlas was only issued once and there is only one known complete copy extant, in the University Library of Leiden. We can find no examples having been on the market.
