Very nice tinted lithograph from the Pacific Railroad Survey depicting the San Fernando Valley when it had only a Mission and the occasional ranch house. In the foreground, a Californio harvests a cactus pear. A far cry from today's sprawling suburb near Los Angeles. Plate VI from the geology report. Generally considered the first published view of the valley.
