Thomas Dick (1774-1857), a Scottish astronomer and Presbyterian preacher, issued this sequel to his Celestial Scenery. Discusses in detail the constellations, multiple stars, Milky Way, nebulae orders, star aberrations & motions, meteors, shooting stars, comets, observations of noted astronomers, arguments that other worlds are inhabited, and the role of Deity in cosmic affairs. Appendix gives positions of planets, eclipses/occultations, 1840-41. Hardbound, 419pp., index. Illustrated with five folding b&w plates + over 80 full-pg. and in-text drawings and celestial plans.
