This famous portrait, engraved by Galle, was included in Ortelius' atlases from 1579 onwards. The title translation is, "By looking, Ortelius gave to mortal beings the world, by looking at his face, Galleus gave them Ortelius." The portrait is surrounded in a strapwork and garland frame. No text on verso.

Fine impression and later color. Remnants of hinge tape on verso. Minor surface soil in margins.
