First (10.2 x 7.8") is Sanson's handsome map of Gabon, the Congo and Angola from Cape Lopez and Sao Tomé to approximately the border with present-day Namibia. It is fully engraved with mountains, rivers, forests and trails and decorated with a strapwork title cartouche. Engraved by A. d' Winter for a Dutch edition of Sanson's pocket atlas with a strapwork title cartouche. Uncolored, circa 1705. Second (9.5 x 7.5") is Bellin's lovely small map of the Gulf of Guinee from Sierra Leone to Angola. In the upper right corner is a key to the colonial settlements and forts. Adorned with an ornamental cartouche with a small vignette and compass rose, all beautifully colored. Engraved by J. van Schley, Amsterdam, circa 1760.
