Published by Johann Benedict Carpzov. The book details the town of Zittau including buildings and history. Zittau is in Saxony, on the River Mandau, close to the Bohemian and Silesian frontier. Founded by Ottocar II of Bohemia it was one of the six towns of the Lusatian League (1346). The city suffered severely in the Hussite wars and the Thirty Years' War. Contains six copper engraved (four double-page) town plans, birds-eye-view, and two pages of heralds. Includes "Prospect der Statdt Zittau", "Grund Riss der Stadt Zitau", "Prospect des Berg Schlosses U. Klosters Oybin" and others. Numerous woodcuts in text. Fine fronticpiece and title page in red and black. Extremely rare issue that is complete, 357 pp.+index. Original vellum binding.
