Two interesting books covering the history of early French and English settlements in North America. First, by Stefan Lorant, Duell, Loan & Pearce, NY, 1965, 292 pp., index bibliography, heavily illustrated in BW and color with water colors of John White (1585), de Bry's engravings of the Virginia and Florida settlements, and excerpts from Thomas Hariot's "New Found Land of Virginia" (1588). Small folio, hardbound with dust jacket. Second, by Charles E. Bennett, University of Florida Press, 1964, 191 pp., illustrated in BW. 8vo, hardbound without dust jacket.
