This indispensable bibliographical guide to atlases in the Library of Congress was compiled by Phillips and LeGear. The entries include full collations, lists of maps, copious annotations, and indexes of authors, cartographers, engravers, and geographic subjects. While this is not a complete set, it includes some of the most important volumes in this series. This group includes Volume I through IV with Phillips' first 5,324 entries. LeGear's Volumes 7 & 8 with indexes by area, subject, map author, engraver, lithographer, publisher and atlas title. Also included are the related references: The Lowrey Collection - A Descriptive List of Maps of the Spanish Possessions ... 1502-1820 and The Kohl Collection of Maps Relating to America. All original editions, hardbound in buckram.
