A scarce map of the Americas featuring the discoveries of Captain Cook. In North America a possible Northwest Passage is labeled B. di Beering and Alaska (Algka) makes a very early appearance. Cook's three voyages are traced in the Pacific, where both islands of New Zealand and Hawaii are prominently shown. The location and date of Cook's demise is marked on I. Owhyea. The large title cartouche is set in a lush landscape with the allegorical female representation of America surrounded by native animals.
