This is a very interesting plan view that perfectly illustrates the phrase fog of war through a variety of engraving techniques. It depicts the battle for Copenhagen in 1659 from a hillside vantage point. The city plan can just barely be made out through the haze and smoke of the tremendous battle surrounding the city. A huge explanation cartouche fills the foreground. On two joined sheets, as issued.
