Charming plan of the fortified city and citadel at Mannheim prior to its destruction in 1689, during the War of the Palatinate Succession. Title cartouche features a river god and a soldier. Nicolas de Fer held the title of Geographer at Louis XIV's court. He was one of the most prolific publishers of plans of European cities in the late seventeenth century.
