Two fine engravings from Pufendorf's famous chronicle on The Northern Wars and military campaigns of Sweden's King Charles X. First is a superb bird's-eye plan (14.7 x 11.5") of the Swedish fortress at Demmin located at in the heart of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where the Peene, Trebel and Tollense rivers meet. The plan shows the siege by allied Danish, Imperial and Brandenburgian commandos in October 1659 that resulted in the retreat of the occupying Swedish forces. Second (12.7 x 10.5") has two battle scenes on a single sheet; both rendered from a hillside vantage point and show the armies and cavalry engaged in battle.
