Two volumes (of 8) containing beautiful steel engravings by Bartlett. Volume V has 23 plates and a map of the Black Sea. Volume VIII includes 13 plate, an engraved frontispiece and a map of "Constantinople: with The Thracian Bosphorus." Written by William Beattie who commissioned the publication of many books of a topographical nature based on his travels. His work is among the best of the nineteenth century travel books when it was fashionable to have books of views of far away and exotic places. Hardbound in matching original red embossed cloth boards with gilt illustrations on covers and titles on spine, gilt edges. Sold as a collection of plates.
