A fabulous copper engraving of an Aztec pagan god standing on an altar receiving offerings. The deity is huge and is half-man, half-beast. A large group of Aztecs gathers in the room with offerings and war artifacts. The accuracy of this rendering is questionable; however, it reflects the power and richness of the native religion. These pagan gods were of considerable interest to Europeans, and much information was sent to the Old World despite Spanish attempts to eradicate it.
