A handsome copper engraved map centered on Giessen and extending to include Dillenburg, Weilburg, Fridberg, Nidda, Crainfeld, Alsfeld, and Marvburg. Very fine detail throughout showing forests, roads, scores of towns and villages, rivers and topography. Lovely bird's-eye inset view of the university town of Giessen with the allegorical figure of Fame blowing on a trumpet, and the handsome coat of arms of Giessen. Inset with two large architectural vignettes of university buildings. Finally a decorative cartouche at upper right encloses an extensive legend for the main map.
