A wonderful map showing U.S. claims well into Canada, in fact extending to Russian America Mexico controls the Southwest and California, here New California and Baja called Old California. Original paper label on verso of top roller "North America," and original brass hooks connected to top roller with original green cloth. Drawn by D.H. Vance and engraved by J.H. Young. A great example with original coloring and varnish. Appears to be nearly identical to the double page map published in his "New American Atlas." A rare issue with only one Finley example appearing in Jolly.

Some surface wear, bottom roller but present, cloth reinforcement in a strip on verso to limit cracking along soft fold. Edge piping in place. A little darkening to varnish, as expected.
