An excellent and highly accurate engraved plan of the U.S. Military Academy that extends to include the Delafield Reservoir, the observatory and the Engineer's Gardens. Good detail of the fortified Fort Clinton and its batteries. The legend identifies the location of 43 important buildings; magazines, cadet guard house, cadet laundry, hotel, stables, etc. There are four versions of this map with the date of 1883. This is perhaps the most interesting as it includes the proposed location (in red) of new buildings and gymnasium, as well as the "flats filled in by the Railroad Company" between the railroad causeway labeled "New York, West Shore & Buffalo Ry." and the shoreline.

Issued folding, now pressed and backed with archival tissue. Very lightly toned along one fold, still very good.
