This map is from the French edition of Carey & Lea's American Atlas with French text surrounding the map on three sides of a large folio sheet (27 x 21"). The map itself is titled "Rhode Island" and measures 8.1 x 11.2". It is a beautiful, pastel colored copper engraving of the state with counties, roads and towns all well delineated. Includes Block Island. Buchon's maps were printed on better quality paper than its American counterpart, which is clearly evident here.
