This tiny world map appeared in one of the later Italian versions of Ortelius' famous pocket atlas. It is a reduced version of Giacomo Gastaldi's map of 1548. North America is connected to Asia by a prominent land bridge, and Greenland is connected to Scandinavia by another landmass. Below South America is a huge island of Tierra del Fuego. Lovisa's maps were copied from Pietro Marchetti's plates from nearly a century before; they are very rare.
