Set of seven interesting engravings illustrating Mexico City and explorers in the New World. First two provide two different views of Mexico City; as it was first discovered by Cortez and as it appeared in the eighteenth century. The other engravings show explorers, Native Americans, ritual sacrifice and ceremonies. Includes: Alt Mexico (10.5 x 7.2"); Neu Mexico (10.3 x 7.5" ); Marina Und Andere Frauenspersonen, Die Dem Cortes Gegeben Worden (11 x 8"); Vitzliputzli, vornehmster Gotze der Mexicaner (5.5 x 8"); Erste Indianer, die dem Christoph Columbus vorommen (5.8 x 8"); Begraebnissplatz Der Opfer (7.3 x 6"); and Zeitvertreib Des Kaisers Nach Der Tafel (7.5 x 6"). These are from a German edition of Prevost's l'Histoire Generale des Voyages.
