Handsome map of the region surrounding the city of Namur based on the once secret map of Jacques Surhon (1555). Boldly decorated with a title cartouche featuring a coat of arms and four putti, an unusual compass flanked by a surveyor, and a large scale of miles cartouche, uncolored as issued. Valk & Schenk purchased the Jansson publishing house plates in 1694 and continued publishing many of the best maps for many years.

Beautiful original color and crisp impression. On thick hand laid paper with very wide, original margins. One tiny area of paper loss below Dinant, else fine.
